Mount Gemi

Mount Gemi is a distinctive peak in Ghana’s Volta Region, known for the large metal cross that stands at its summit. Rising above the town of Amedzofe, the mountain offers wide, open views of the Volta highlands, nearby villages and, on clear days, the distant horizon.

The trail to the top of Mount Gemi is shorter than some of the region’s other hikes but still offers a satisfying climb. The path winds through forested sections and rocky steps, gradually opening up to reveal sweeping vistas as you gain height.

At the summit, the historic cross towers above the landscape, creating a dramatic focal point against the sky. It is a popular spot for photos, quiet reflection and simply taking in the scenery.

For travellers, Mount Gemi combines natural beauty, a sense of history and a relatively accessible hike, making it an excellent addition to any Volta Region itinerary.
